Lynda Blackmon Lowery was the youngest person to take part in the historic 1965 voting rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. She was jailed nine times before turning 15 in her fight for civil rights. Ms. Lowery, whose story is told in the award-winning book Turning 15 on the Road to Freedom, will join us to give a first-hand perspective on the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s. Her talk will include a performance by an ensemble from Urban Strings Columbus Youth Orchestra. This is one of multiple events with Ms. Blackmon in Columbus offered in partnership with the Friends of Art for Community Enrichment, Inc. (F.A.C.E.), Columbus Metropolitan Library, and Twin Rivers Chapter of the LINKS..
